The iron mask is a recurring helmet in the Dragon Quest series. It is a mid-level helmet reserved for physically strong characters that provides a high amount of defence.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation
The Iron mask has a Defence bonus of +25. It can be purchased in Theddon, Mur, and Lanson for 3,500 Gold Coins and sold for 2,625. It can only be equipped by the Hero and Warriors.
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen
The Iron mask has a Defence bonus of +25. It can be bought in Zalenagrad, Aubout du Monde, Rosehill, Riverton, and the Azimuth for 3,500 gold and sold for 2,625. The Hero and Ragnar can equip it.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
The Iron mask has a Defence bonus of +25. It can be purchased for 3,500 Gold Coins and sold for 2,625. The Hero, Harry, the Hero's Son, Tuppence, Killing machine, Bombboulder, Brownie, Revaulting horse, Moosifer, Hoodlum, Gigantes, Golem, Barbatos, Walking corpse, Hyperanemon, Samigina, Orc king, Magic marionette, Slime knight, Warhog, and Mandrake marshal all can equip it.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
Iron masks can be purchased for 3,500 Gold Coins in Clearvale, Sorceria, Arkbolt, Castle Swanstone, and Turnscote. They can be sold for 2,626 Gold Coins or 2,850 after it has been upgraded. Octavian pirate drop them 1⁄64 of the time. They have a Defense bonus of +25 and a Style bonus of +10 (+35 after it has been upgraded). The Hero, Carver, Amos, Terry, Lizzie, Goowain, and all other Slime allies can equip them.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
The iron mask can be purhased for 3,500 Gold Coins and sold for 1,750. It has a Defense bonus of +22, but reduces the wearer's Style by 10. The Hero, Kiefer, and Aishe can equip it.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
The Iron mask has a Defence bonus of +25. It can be equipped by the Hero and Yangus. It can be equipped for 3,500 Gold in Argonia (only after the bazaar starts), Arcadia, Savella Cathedral, and the Holy Isle of Neos.

Dragon Quest Tact
The iron mask is a B-rank piece of armor that can be purchased up to five times monthly from the gold shop for 1,000 gold. The mask can also be acquired as a reward from completing the third stages of both Kon and Kiefer's Battle Roads. It has a DEF bonus of +8, can only be equipped by Attack and Defence units, and has three slots for Alchemy Effects.
