Lava lump is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a fiery fragment of volcanic material that is used as a crafting ingredient, particularly for making fire-themed pieces of equipment.

Lava lumps can be collected from Newid Isle and the Wyrmsmaw, has an 8% chance of being found in rank 2 (H) blue treasure chests, or dropped by Bagmas, Live lavas, Magmalices, Scarlet fevers, Admirers, Terrorhawks, and the Master of Nu'un. It can also be found randomly in the fountain at a fully upgraded Quester's Rest. It can be sold for 42 gold. Lava lump is used in the following alchemy recipes:

Lava lump is used as a material for crafting weapons, armour, and furniture. It can be purchased from a material shop for 200 gold, picked up from sparkly spots, or dropped by various monsters, including Rockbombs, Grillerpillars, and Face invaders.

Lava lumps can be picked up from sparkly spots in the Hotto Steppe, Mount Huji, and the Hotto Steppe - Northern Whale Way Station. It has a 116 chance of being dropped by Face invaders, Lava lamplings, and Rockbombs, and a 132 chance of being dropped by Firebirds and Hot dogs. It can be sold for 90 gold.

Lava lumps can be used in sword tempering for creating fire-elemental swords and the Aurora blade. It can be dropped by any kind of fire-aligned monster such as Firespirits and Rockbombs.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below

Lava lump can be dropped by Rockbombs and Grinades, can be received from King Flaminio in exchange for

and can be received as a reward for defeating the Green dragon with silver clear time. It can be used to create Tough guy tattoo and the quick recipe for the Strength ring in the Alchemy Pot and can be sold for 11 gold.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End

Lava lumps are used as a material to improve various accessories. Once again, they can be dropped by Rockbombs and Grinades.

Dragon Quest Treasures

A mass of molten rock that's moderately cool. Used mainly to make pellets. Mostly found on Cinderback Ridge.[3]

Lava lump can be collected from red crystals on Cinderback Ridge or sometimes received by sending a dispatch team to the Bloodleaf Boulevard or Cold Shoulder Central areas of Cinderback Ridge. It is mainly used for crafting pellets at the Werks or for scouting monsters.
