The Leery lout is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation.

Leery louts are little green goblins that hide behind their bucklers, which are hideous grinning shields they use to defend while waiting for other allies to defeat foes, though recent entries also have seen them contribute to the battle with their shields such as ramming enemies with it or just breathing fire, other than defending. In their left hands, they wield broadswords that are nearly as tall as themselves.
