A young boy by the name of Marcello came to live at Maella Abbey after the death of his mother as he was disowned by his father due to him being born in an affair with a maid. Abbot Francisco welcomed him with open arms, as well as his younger half brother, Angelo who arrived several years later.

Eventually things would take a turn for the worse at the Abbey as the sorcerer, Dhoulmagus arrived in hopes of killing Francisco due to his being a descendant of Eagus of the Seven Sages. In pursuit of him was The Hero and his party, who by Angelo's aid managed to temporarily protect the Abbot. The group, however, were accused by Marcello of trying to kill the Abbot and sent to the Abbey's prison, until Angelo let them out through a passage leading to a building across the river.

Dhoulmagus tried again to murder Abbot Francisco and succeeded despite the efforts of the brothers, along with The Hero's party.
