The Monolog is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in the Dragon Quest Monsters series, it is an uprooted tree that floats with the help of a pair of wings.

Characteristics

Monologs are great green tree trunks with a paired with a pair of batty wings, covered in weirdly webbed skin, that they use to fly frighteningly through the battlefield, forever staring with their freaky blinking and stern single eye. Their wicked tentacle-like roots flop and flail slightly in the air, waiting until the unspeakably frightening creature slams itself into the ground and takes root, just long enough for the roots themselves to dig through the ground and erupt under enemies, deftly causing damage. As if their appearance alone wasn't enough to cause chaos and confusion, they are also armed with infuriating Fuddle spell, allowing them to confuse all adventurers in a single cast. For some unknown reason they are deeply connected with the Bag o' laughs, always ready to come to their aid when called as an ally. Maybe the bags themselves are made from fibers from the terrifying floating trees.
