Poison Breath is obtained by advancing to rank 3 of the [[Monster Master]] vocation.

It is also used by [[toxic turnip]]s.

Poison Breath can be learned automatically at rank 1 of the Monster Masher vocation and it can also be learned by advancing to rank 4 as a [[Walking corpse (vocation)|Walking corpse]]. On the enemy side, it can be used by [[blighted bloater]]s, [[corpse corporal]]s, [[Diethon (DQVII)|diethon]]s, [[frightcrawler]]s, [[toxic zombie]]s, [[Putric Stinkenheimer]], [[Worm of woe|worms of woe]], and the boss version of [[claw breaker]].

Called PoisonGas in this game, this ability can be learned by various {{MFamilies}}s. It requires the {{MFamilies}} to be at least level 9, with at least 63 {{HP}}, and 54 {{Intelligence}}. It grows into [[Venom Breath|PoisonAir]] when the {{MFamilies}} reaches at least level 14 with at least 98 {{HP}}, and 84 {{Intelligence}}. It is naturally learned by the [[Rashaverak|Andreal]], [[Killerpillar|Catapila]], [[Walking corpse|Hork]], [[Murdaw|Mudou]], [[Killer gila|Poisongon]], [[Mad mollusk|TailEater]] and [[Flython|WingSnake]].

PoisonGas now requires 98 {{Intelligence}} to learn and 152 {{Intelligence}} to upgrade. It is naturally learned by the [[Anemon]], [[Devil pine|Devipine]], [[Finned fatale|Digong]], [[Inverzon]], [[Eveel|Moray]], [[Thriller wave|RogueWave]], and [[Dierantula|Skularach]]. The [[Killerpillar|Catapila]] no longer naturally learns it.

Poison Breath is known naturally by [[Batmandrill]] and [[Rashaverak]] at level 1 and can be learned by [[Lickspittle]] at level 16. It costs 11 {{MP}} to use and has a chance to poison all enemies in a range of three squares in front of the user. It can also be taught to any unit by using an ability scroll.
