Sage's robe

The sage's robe, also known as the philosopher robe, is a recurring robe in the Dragon Quest series. It is a highly protective robe for spellcasters that protects the wearer against magical damage.

Appearances

Dragon Quest V

The sage's robe has a defence bonus of +50, and protects against magical damage. It can only be worn by Bianca, Nera, and slime companions.

Dragon Quest VIII

The sage's robe has a defence bonus of +55 and reduces damage taken from non-Zap spells by 25. It can only be worn by Angelo and can be sold for 11,000 gold. It can be made in the Alchemy Pot and can be upgraded into the Crimson robe by combining it with nook grass and magic water.

Dragon Quest IX

The sage's robe serves as the iconic attire for male Sages in this game.
