The scarewell, originally known as WellLure, is a monster introduced in Dragon Quest VI. They hide in the stone wells that appear in various towns and attack unsuspecting adventurers who check them.
Characteristics
Scarewells are large muscular demons that carry around a ring of stones similar to a well, giving it the appearance of a monster crawling out of one. In their first appearance in Dragon Quest VI, they had brown skin, which was changed to blue after Dragon Quest VII. In the remakes of Dragon Quest VI, they have light green skin with orange undersides. Much like a cannibox, scarewells lie in wait for adventurers to examine wells and rely on the element of surprise to their advantage. They have bumpy blue skin and a pair of curved horns on both their heads and their backs.
Scarewells also have large gaping mouths and they shoot out their long tongues in order to attack.
