Scholar's specs

The Scholar's specs are a recurring accessory in the Dragon Quest series that first appeared in the Super Famicom remake of Dragon Quest III. They increase the wearer's Wisdom.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of SalvationEdit

The Scholar's specs have a +15 Wisdom bonus and changes the wearer's Personality to Wit. They are received as a prize from the Mini medal collector in Aliahan after turning in 35 Mini medals. The scholar's specs can be sold for 1,275 gold coins, but it is not recommended to do so as there is only one pair in the game. They only appear in remakes of the game.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten PastEdit

The Scholar's specs have a +15 Wisdom bonus. They can be equipped by the Hero, Maribel, Sir Mervyn, and Aishe. Three pairs can be found in Gröndal, Pomposo Bridge, and the Immigrant Town/The Haven in a treasure chest requiring the Magic Key. The scholar's specs can also be dropped by Discombombulators.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed KingEdit

The Scholar's specs have a +15 Wisdom bonus and can be equipped by all characters. They can be purchased from Argonia once the Bazaar starts for 2,700 gold and sold for 1,350 gold. One pair can be found at the Holy Isle of Neos. They are also dropped rarely by Sea dragons. Scholar's specs can be made in the Alchemy Pot and can also be used to make the Scholar's cap.

The recipe book Sage Advice contains the recipe for the scholar's specs. It can be found in a treasure chest at the Sniflheim Whale Way Station behind a locked door that requires the Ultimate Key.

The quick recipe for the scholar's specs can be received from King Flaminio in exchange for a single Mini medal on the Stonecloud, while the classic recipe for the scholar's specs can be dropped rarely by Magi.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's EndEdit

The Scholar's specs increase the effects of Defence boosts such as Kabuff by 20%. Once it has been fully upgraded, it will also grant +7 bonuses to max MP and Magical Might. The glasses can be dropped by Drackmages or received by exchanging 6 Mini medals.

Dragon Quest TreasuresEdit

The Scholar's specs are Treasure No. 228 in the Armour 2 category and can be found on the Maneland. Their base value is 550,000 gold.
