Scythes are a weapon class exclusive to Dragon Quest VIII and Dragon Quest X. Currently, they may only be equipped by Yangus and members of the Death Master vocation.

Scythes provide ways for Yangus to inflict status effects (such as instant death or paralysis) or steal items, either through the skill tree system or through the weapon's innate ability. Scythes also give Yangus the ability Big Banga through its skill tree.
