The Shaman is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. These mid-ranking spellcasters are loyal servants to their demonic masters.

Description

Shamans are a human mages fallen prey to the allure of evil. It wears a wicked white robe, emblazoned with the eerie bat insignia of the Children of Hargon on the front, a creepy purple cape, and a white mask with a purple jewel on the forehead. They wield a solid golden staff topped with a purple or red jewel when going to battle, used to help amplify their mental abilities and spell-slinging skills. As one might expect from the name, the Shaman is a magic user, casting low level fire spells and preventing opponents from casting their own magic. The shaman reappeared in Dragon Quest VII after 13 years, wearing a dark pink cape, a red jewel on its cape, scepter, and forehead, red on the bat insignia in front of its robe, and a red and pink triangular-pattern on the ends of its sleeves. Like many humanoid monsters, shamans are now depicted in modern appearances with five fingers on their hands instead of four.
