The Skeleton soldier is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, introduced in the original Dragon Quest. It is a stronger variant of the Skeleton with the ability to heal itself with magic.

Characteristics

Skeleton soldiers are garbed in red or olive tunics, dull purple leggings, leather boots and gloves, and a belt with a ruby on its buckle around its waist. They were formerly knights in the living world, but have retained the ability to cast healing magic in undeath. In some games such as the Monsters: Joker spinoffs, the soldiers wield scythes instead of sabres in order to differentiate them from the other skeletons.
