The spangled dress, or spangle dress, is a recurring piece of clothing in the Dragon Quest series. It is a fashionable dress designed for women and provides a high amount of protection.

Appearances

Dragon Quest IV

The spangled dress has a defence bonus of +40. It can only be worn by Alena, Maya, and Meena. It may be purchased at the Endor Casino for 2,000 tokens. It only appears in the remakes.

Dragon Quest VII

The spangled dress has a defence bonus of +50 and a style bonus of +52. If equipped with the solar fan, it provides a +45 style bonus when being ranked for the Style category of the Excellence Grading Organisation. It can only be worn by Maribel and Aishe. Spangled dresses can be purchased at the Grand Slum Immigrant Town for 11,500 gold and sold for 5,750 gold. A spangled dress can be won for winning the Style Prize for women in El Ciclo in the present. Spangled dresses can also be won as prizes from the Lucky Panel at the Casino.

Dragon Quest VIII

The spangled dress has a defence bonus of +46. It can only be worn by Jessica and Red. Spangled dresses can be bought for 3,000 tokens at the Baccarat Casino and sold for 2,350 gold. One can also be found in Cash and Carrie's house in Baccarat after the events at Marta's Cottage. The spangled dress can also be upgraded into a shimmering dress in the Alchemy Pot by combining it with a gold bracer and a ruby of protection.
