Where you left the note is just fine. I think leaving it on my talk page allowed me to know I had a new message, so I'm replying here. There isn't currently much by the way of policy (we don't even have a content license...though that may soon change), and I think we want the same thing, so I don't anticipate there'll be much editing by me of your additions.
