Characteristics
The wayfarer's clothes consists of a sturdy, long blue sleeveless tunic made out of hemp, worn with a leather belt around the waist, and a blue cape. They can typically be purchased in the first town a player visits in a game and offer a decent amount of protection for novice adventurers, especially spellcasters who cannot wear heavier armour. Wayfarer's clothes are one of the few items in the series whose price has stayed consistent in every game they have appeared.

Trivia
- Several characters' artwork depicts them wearing a variation of wayfarer's clothes:
- Both the male and female Hero in Dragon Quest III wear them. Sometimes their capes are colored purple instead of blue.
- Alena is garbed in a yellow version with a blue cape.
- Both Parry and Madchen have a child-sized version; the former with a tattered blue outfit, the latter with a well-tended lilac outfit.
