'''Erdrick's shield''' is an infallible guard against all many of blows, protecting the [[Hero (Dragon Quest III)|Hero of legend]] and his descendants from danger even in the most dire circumstances. It is a [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heater_shield heater shield] made of a blue metal with a golden trim and an emblem that resembles the [[Ramia|legendary phoenix]] , with rune-markings near the top that spell out the name "Roto". Prior to its association with Erdrick, the shield was known as the [[Hero's shield]].

Erdrick's shield is found in the castle of [[Cannock]], watched over by an old sage in the center of the building's pond. The [[Golden Key]] is required to enter the tiny islet. Once obtained, the shield will boost the {{Prince of Midenhall}}'s {{Defence}} by +30.

*The shield originally bore a different set of runes when it was known as the Hero's shield, meaning Erdrick inscribed his title upon it some time after his journey came to an end.
