The Japanese name for this card, ''Kōtetsumajin'', means "Steel Demon", giving rise to the old English name of the monster. However, ''majin'' sounds very similar to ''mashin'', the Japanese transliteration of the English word "machine", and the term is often used with mechanical monsters in Dragon Quest like the [Überkilling machine] as a reference to its similar use in the Super Robot series [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazinger Mazinger]. As such, it is likely also a pun on "Steel Machine".
