Thanatos' shield is a recurring Status effect#Negative Status Ailments item in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances
Dragon Quest II
The cursed shield is found in the Cave to Rendarak, and also randomly dropped by eyelasher monsters. It can be equipped by the Prince of Midenhall.
Dragon Quest VIII
The Thanatos' shield can be equipped by the Hero, Angelo, or Yangus. It's better to polish it into a Goddess shield with a phial of saint's ashes.
It's found in the Dragovian Path and can be sold for 3,650 Gold Coins.
