The Gem jamboree is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IX. It is a golden version of the Slime stack known for dropping large quantities of gold when defeated.

Characteristics

A Gem jamboree is simply an organized stack of three different gold slimes: all being very similar shiny colours, showing just how much they're worth if defeated. The slime at the very top is slightly orange, the one in the middle being yellow gold, while the slime at the bottom is a dark shade of gold. Given that they are three Gold slimes working together, they are fairly formidable when first confronted and especially exceed the sum of their parts, but are prone to fleeing much like other Metal slimes, taking all of their gold with them. According to their monster description in X, gem jamborees are highly coveted in social circles due to their golden bodies and they are kept as pets by upper-class young ladies as a status symbol.

Bevies of blobs bonded by their love of the beauty of booty. If you're lucky enough to meet one, don't let it get away.

Being at the bottom of a monolith of heavy metal makes the lowest slimes in these stacks a shade short-tempered.

  • Defeating a Gem jamboree is required to obtain a Brilliant biscuit during Quest #156: Inn Search of an Inny.

Dragon Quest X

Gem jamborees appeared from the beginning of the game. They originally only dropped 285 gold coins after being defeated, but the amount was increased to 504 in Version 1.5. Like before, they will waste their turns in battle and flee if threatened, but have also gained the ability to cast Kerfrizz much like Metal medleys.

Dragon Quest Rivals

Gem jamboree appeared in the 8th card pack, "Get Rich Quick! Casino Paradise" as a rare card common to all leaders.

Dragon Quest Tact

Gem jamboree appears as a B-rank monster of the Slime family during the first part of the Version 4.0 Update Festival's Eve limited Mindini's Boogie-Woogie Rescue Mission event. It will join the party in Chapter 1, Episode 2 of the event quests and it can participate in the Penny pincher's Battle Road as a party member.
