The '''magma staff''', also known as the '''lava staff''', is a recurring wand in the ''[[Dragon Quest (series)|Dragon Quest]]'' franchise. It often is required to progress past a certain point by using it to remove a roadblock. Depending on the game, it will cast either [[Bang]], [[Boom]], or [[Magma Blast]] on all enemies when used as a tool in battle.

The magma staff is a knobbly cane fashioned from magma rock and wood, with one end bearing the appearance of a volcano's crater with a faint red glow emanating from the center. The staff was a necessary acquisition required to progress past a certain point by using it to remove a roadblock in it's first two appearances, but it has since become a regular--albeit handy--weapon beginning with the sixth title. Depending on the game, it will damage all enemies with an explosion or wave of fire when used as a tool in battle.
