The '''magic shield''' is a recurring shield in the {{DQSeries}}. It is designed to guard against harmful magic and elemental damage, hence the whimsical design.

Appearing only in the remakes, the magic shield can be equipped by all vocations save for the [[Martial Artist]]. It boosts {{Defence}} by +25, and cuts '''all''' magical damage by 25%. It can be purchased from [[Baharata]], [[Mur]], and [[Persistence]] for 2,000 gold and sold for 1,500 gold. It is also the most protective shield that a [[Mage]] can equip.

The instruction manual for the magic shield, [[List of fun-size forge recipe book locations in Dragon Quest XI|That's Magic]], is the reward for quest #26, A Cold Crush. The quest is given by a man in the Sniflheim bar, and is resolved by finding a Snærose in the southernmost point of the [[Snærfelt]].

The magic shield increases Defence by +24 and reduces fire and ice damage. The recipe is learned at level 29 and can be crafted 1 [[Steel shield]] and 3 Magic crystals at a Wizard's workbench.
