This weapon shares its Japanese name with the more powerful [[Dragon staff]] of {{DQ5}}, being written as ''ドラゴンのつえ''. The reason for the alternate English name for this weapon in the ninth and eleventh games is possibly due to the localization team wanting to distinguish this mass-produced wand from the legendary staff.
