The dragon's scale increases defence by +5 and can be equipped by all characters. One can be found in a treasure chest in the [[Desert (Dragon Quest VIII)|Desert]], the [[Dark Ruins]], and [[Royal Hunting Grounds]] behind [[magic key]] doors, as well as in [[Arcadia]] and [[Dark Empycchu]]. Dragon scales are dropped by [[dragurn]]s, [[frou-frou]]s, [[frost wyvine]]s, [[hacksaurus]]es, [[Sea dragon (monster)|sea dragon]]s, [[seasaur]]s, and [[tyrantosaurus]]es.
