Belial's role in the HD-2D Remake of his debut is expanded upon, making him a major antagonist. He is one of Hargon's Champions along with Atlas, Mariella, & Pazuzu, and personally lead the siege on Castle Moonbrooke. He invades the Faerie Palace and tries to kill Dream-Whisperer, but he is repelled and teleports away, vowing that his next battle with the Scions of Erdrick would be more worthy. | Belial's role in the HD-2D Remake of his debut is expanded upon, making him a major antagonist. In addition to destroying potential threats to Hargon's operation, Belial is also tasked with travelling Alefgard in disguise to obtain crucial information. He accomplishes this by transforming into a near-perfect copy of the Princess of Moonbrooke and using the Mark of Moonbrooke he claimed from the siege to prove his false identity. He is so confident in his disguise that he attempts to infiltrate the quartet of heroes after splitting the group up in the Passage to Rendarak and turn the group against the real princess, but his lie is exposed thanks to Princess Gwaelin's necklace only resonating with those who carry the blood of Erdrick. The second battle with the yellow bastard begins, and afterwards he explains the nature of his being in Alefgard: he, Atlas, and Pazuzu were worshiped as cruel deities in their home dimensions before being summoned forth by Hargon after he sacrificed the lives of countless wicked humans. This act of summoning bound the three to Hargon's will, and they can never act against him no return to their own realms so long as he lives. Belial then tries to convince the Scions of Erdrick into slaying Hargon for him, thinking nothing of the hell he has personally put the Princess of Moonbrooke through. | In addition to destroying potential threats to Hargon's operation, Belial is also tasked with travelling Alefgard in disguise to obtain crucial information and weaken the remaining kingdoms. He accomplishes this by transforming into a near-perfect copy of the Princess of Moonbrooke and using the Mark of Moonbrooke he claimed from the siege to prove his false identity, nearly succeeding in convincing Tantegel to send the bulk of its army to Moonbrooke for joint training drills that would leave the castle vulnerable. The final encounter with Belial is at the penultimate level of the Hall of Hargon in the frozen wastes of Rendarak. He first tries to confuse the group by taking the form of Mariella, but quickly engages in combat. His death avenges the fallen people of Moonbrooke. | The final encounter with Belial is at the penultimate level of the Hall of Hargon in the frozen wastes of Rendarak.
