Granvania (also romanized as Glanvania or Granbania, and known as Gotha in the DS remake) is a both a castle town and a kingdom in Enix's Dragon Quest V. The castle is surrounded by thick forests and impassable mountains and is located south of a lake which empties into the ocean.

Kingdom of Granvania

Each King of Granvania must pass a trial in the nearby Ordeal Cave to prove their worth before they are allowed to ascend the throne. Granvania's monarchs include Papas and the hero from Dragon Quest V.
