The Clockwork cuckoo is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, a mechanical bird monster that first appeared in Dragon Quest VIII.

Characteristics[edit]

The monster is a mechanical starling roughly the size of a human head that behaves much as its living counterpart. It's metal casing is a pale egg-white with blue accents for the plumage and gold for the legs. Trivia[edit]

  • The clockwork cuckoo's Japanese name Gachakokko (ガチャコッコ) is a combination of the word gachapon, an onomatopoeia from the sound of a vending machine that dispenses collectible toys in a plastic capsule and kokekokkō, the sound a rooster makes.
