A '''class''' (vocation/job) is a specific role classification given to party characters in the Dragon Quest series.  Classes first appeared in [[Dragon Quest III]], with subsequent appearances in [[Dragon Quest VI|VI]], [[Dragon Quest VII|VII]], [[Dragon Quest VIII|VIII]], and [[Dragon Quest IX|IX]].  Classes typically involve a system for changing from one class to another with certain pre-requisites.  Class changing can usually only happen at a specific location within each game, such as the [[Temple of Dharma]].
