The Dark devildog is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VIII. It is a powerful relative of the Chainine.
Characteristics[edit]
Dark devildogs are anthropomorphic bulldog monsters that wear golden suits of armor and carry around a pair of chained collars attached to their waists. They also wear red trousers and red, spiked skullcaps which they can drop after battle. Like their less powerful cousins, these powerful guard dogs are capable of incapacitating their opponents with the collars they carry. The fearsome barking of the hounds can shock enemies into intimidation and even summon hell's gatekeepers to assist them in battle.
