The Ravaged Realm, also known as Cantlin Plains, is the first area player explore in Dragon Quest Builders. It is the ruins of the former fortress of Cantlin, having been overgrown with saplings and debris in the century since the first game took place. This area is where the base for Chapter 1 is located.

Overview

The landscape is a tutorial area that is specifically designed to get players accustomed to the flow of the game. Specifically, the nature of building, the passing of time, and the hunger meter are addressed directly once work on the base has begun. Combating monsters, as well as fighting off raids, will also be covered.

This island has vast plains around the town and in the southwest area, some forest areas, mountains across the whole island, and a swamp area in the southern part. In the plains and forest areas, some puddles can be found.

The town is almost barren when the player first arrives, but some structures remain. One of the first quests is finishing a room in the northwest for Pippa, the first npc to join the village.

The main building resource in this chapter will be stone and minerals, with many recipes requiring either. Despite this fact, the Ravaged Realm doesn't have many rocky resources, needing to import them from the other parts of the Cantlin region, like Hammerhood Heights.

	Pippa	Pippa joins the base immediately after the player places the Banner of Hope. She offers a number of quests, but avoids battle. She is the first person the player meets.
	Rollo	Rollo is found under a rock some monsters stuck on top of him. A bombastic buffoon, he is a man of endless enthusiasm who encourages the builder with information he gleams from an old tomb called the Cantlin Chronicle.
	Larouche	Larouche appears at the base once the player acquires the blue teleportal. Larouche doesn’t engage in combat, but does provide quests that improve the base.
	Kenelm	Travel through the blue teleportal, defend Kenelm from skeletons, and he gratefully follows the player to the base. He becomes a vigilant defender of the base and teaches the player a special combat technique.
	Sheridon	Sheridon arrives at the base after the player places the red teleportal. While he does not participate in battles, he shares the secret of building wrecking balls, which are the key to defeating a powerful enemy.
	Magnus	A renowned blacksmith, Magnus has been locked up by evil forces. Once set free, he eagerly engages in battle at the player's base and shares his knowledge.
	Cherie	Cherie pops up at the Banner of Hope after the green teleportal is earned. She isn’t a fighter, but she does pitch in by creating items in the workshop.
	Splatrick	Splatrick is a slime found behind the Green Teleportal. He is a slime who is hated by the other slimes because he doesn't hate humans. He has the ability to talk to other monsters as seen after the final battle.

Points of Interest

• The Builder's grave, the game's starting point.
• Cantlin, the main base for Chapter 1.
• Rollo's hidding spot, located east from the builder's grave.
• Dracky cave, a cave where two drackys guard a chest. Located at the south of Cantlin.
• The Chimaera tower, located southwest from the base. There is a chest on top of it.
• The field of flowers in the far southwest, beyond the mountains. One of the three dragons needed for a challenge rests there.
• The swamp area, in the far south, beyond the mountains.
• Rubiss's teleportal. Located south from Rollo's hidding spot, it's where the player must go in order to end the chapter.
