Pankraz | start | ||
Pankraz was formerly the king of Gotha. However, after the birth of his son, monsters kidnapped his wife Madalena. From then on, Pankraz and his son; along with Sancho, would travel the world in search of the king's wife. Pankraz's unassuming appearance; combined with the fact that he has been traveling with his son for so long has caused many people to assume him to be a commoner and not a king. Pankraz arrives in Whealbrook shortly after the game begins and soon after escorts Bianca Whitaker and her family home to Roundbeck. After arriving back in Whealbrook from the mission, Pankraz comes down with a cold brought on by the eternal winter in Faerie Lea. After his son resolves the issue there, Pankraz is summoned to Whealbrook. There, he witnesses the kidnapping of the young Prince Harry, and him and his son head to the Ancient Ruins. As the children try to leave, they are ambushed by members of the Order of Zugzwang. Bishop Ladja; the enemies' leader, beats the children senseless before Pankraz arrives. Ladja then summons Kon the Knight and Slon the Rook to kill Pankraz; he defeats them both, and Ladja changes his tactics. This time, he threatens to kill the man's son if he doesn't yield. Pankraz holds firm from another round of assault until he is nearly dead. Barely clinging to life, Pankraz tells his son that his mother is still alive and that he should keep looking for her; this occurs seconds before he is killed and turned to ash by Ladja, who then proceeds to take Harry and the man's son to Mount Azimuth for the purpose of slave labour.
In the second generation, the now fully-grown Hero 5 returns to Whealbrook and finds a letter from his father. The letter explains that Pankraz has been searching for the legendary hero and his equipment, but only managed to recover the Zenithian sword. The letter ends with Pankraz compelling his son to find the legendary hero and his mother.
