Master is one of the main characters in Dragon Quest Tact, and the avatar of the player.

Although the protagonist of Tact does not appear in-game, he is mentioned several times in both main story and events. He is the only human in the world, and he can wield a magic baton that allows him to command monsters with ease. This same baton was used by another human centuries ago.
The tactician does not have a set name, but the game suggests "Master" as the default.
