AppearancesEdit
Dragon Quest I HD-2D RemakeEdit
Cop Out is already learned by the Hero once the adventure begins. It activates faster than other abilities and has a 75% chance to deflect an attack to an enemy, dealing 112.5% of what the original damage to the Hero would have been.
Dragon Quest II HD-2D RemakeEdit
Cop Out is already learned by the Prince of Cannock when he joins the party. It costs 2 MP and has a 5/8ths chance to pass the damage to an enemy, a 1/4th chance to direct the blow to a fellow Scion of Erdrick, and a 1/8th chance to fail outright with the user taking damage. Cop Out will activate quicker than Forbearance and Mercurial Thrust but has lower priority than Defending Champion.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D RemakeEdit
Cop Out was retroactively added to the 2024 remake, where it's the Warrior's default skill. It costs 2 MP and has a 5/8ths chance to pass the damage to an enemy, a 1/4th chance to direct the blow to an ally, and a 1/8th chance to fail outright with the user taking damage. Cop Out will activate quicker than Whipping Boy, Forbearance, Mercurial Thrust, and Backdraft, but has lower priority than Kaclang and Defending Champion.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of RevelationEdit
Cop Out has a 3/5 chance to reflect an attack back to a random enemy, 1/5 chance to redirect the blow to an ally, and a 1/5 chance of failure. Once used it lasts for the entirety of the turn. Cop Out is learned by Goowain at level 18, and other characters can obtain it by advancing to either rank 5 of the Dancer vocation or rank 3 of the Gladiator vocation.
Tiger jackals also use it.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten PastEdit
Cop Out is learned by Kiefer at level 9 and Aishe at level 21. It is also learned by advancing to rank 3 of the Dancer or rank 4 as a Well Wisher. The ability only appears in the PS1 version.
