Staff of sentencing
The staff of sentencing is recurrent rod in the Dragon Quest series, being either a one-handed or two-handed staff imbued with the fury of the Goddess to punish evildoers. It has been depicted in two distinct designs over the years, with the first being a fairly simple staff topped by a figure of a crouching deity with a gaping mouth, presumable from which the ferocious winds billow forth. The modern design is topped with a bronze figure of an angelic woman carrying a bolt of lightning and matches the staff of divine wrath.

The staff has an attack bonus of +35 (+37 in the remakes), and can be wielded by Priests and Sages. It casts Woosh when used as an item in battle. It can be purchased with 2,700 Gold coins in Mur, Manoza, the Immigrant town, Tantegel, Domdora, and is sold for 2,025.

The staff increases attack by +37 and style by +22, and casts woosh when used in battle. It can only be obtained as a Lucky Panel prize or by being dropped by a barbatos at 1/128. Sir Mervyn and Maribel can equip it.
