CharacteristicsEdit
Tyrannodactyls is a monster based on pterosaurs that can be found in the fifth and sixth floors of the Cave to Rendarak. It is a stronger version of the Terrordactyl with a more orange/reddish color scheme, but unlike its counterpart which only uses physical attacks, it uses dangerous spells like Fire Breath, Kasap and Snooze. Starting with the Super Famicom remake, the Tyrannodactyl's skin changed to dark yellow with red webbing on its wings.

Dragon Quest RivalsEdit
More than 30 years after its first appearance, the Tyrannodactyl returned as a monster card for Fortune Teller leaders in the 6th card pack, "A Symphony of Small Hope".
TriviaEdit
- This monster is infamous among fans of II for being one of the only sources of the Mad cap--an incredible hat that reduces MP costs significantly. Players would spend hours at a time hunting the creature to get the hat; one in particular being Pokémon creator Satoshi Tajiri. In an interview held in 1998, he revealed that the inspiration for exchanging data between games, a staple of his series, came about due to envy that his friend (and Pokémon illustrator) Ken Sugimori had managed to nab two of them and had no way to share them.
