The Hero visits the inn after witnessing the Swindler merchant failing to unload his stolen thief's key on to the Would-Be Heroes in Galenholm. The unscrupulous peddler's past caught up to him when he arrived at the inn before the Hero, and was promptly brutalized by an irate Robbin' 'Ood for stealing his key. The innkeeper tries to depart to alert the knights in Tantegel of the robbery, but the nervous Swindler talks him out of it for fear of being thrown into the dungeon for his own theft.
