Pilchard Bay is an idyllic fishing village located on the southern side of Estard Island. Two of the local delicacies are pilchard crackers and pilchard pie, which are fishy treats. Every year, the most exciting event is the annual pilchard harvest, where the fishermen of the village leave on a fishing expedition. When the Hero wakes up, his mother sends him off to deliver a pilchard sandwich to his father, who never leaves on a trip without one. The Hero delivers the sandwich, and Pollock asks him to help clear the ship's hold, since he's not quite old enough yet to participate in the harvest.
