Rainbough

The Rainbough (虹色の枝 Rainbow Branch) is a key item in Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

After recruiting Veronica and Serena in Hotto, seeking the Rainbough is the Hero's main objective for much of the game's first act. After being rescued from Jarvis's captivity, Noah clues the party in on the artifact's existence as an heirloom of Gallopolis; the party can only guess that this multicolored stick is really a branch of Yggdrasil, but with no other leads, they pursue it. Many misadventures in Gallopolis ultimately leave the party empty-handed, since the royal treasure had recently been sold in order to fund the Sand National horse race to honor Prince Faris's birthday.

The party follows the trail to Octagonia, but are again stymied; the Rainbough is the prize for winning the Masked Martial Arts Tournament, and the Hero manages this feat alongside Vince Vanquish, but when the time comes for the prize to be awarded, it turns out to have been snatched at the last moment by Rab and replaced with a note requesting the Hero's presence in the ruins of Dundrasil. Fortunately, Rab turns out to be an ally, and while the party runs into further trouble in Dundrasil, Rab and Jade join the party and happily relinquish the Rainbough.

Once the Rainbough is brought slightly nearer to the World Tree, it shines brilliantly and shows the Hero a vision of the six orbs creating a rainbow bridge at Yggdrasil's altar in the First Forest. The party pool the Orbs they have already accumulated and set off on the next stage of their journey to find the remainder.
