==Interim== | |||
Iwan and Linda eventually marry and have a son, who Linda calls Eppe. Borlock dies and sometime before the 30 year gap, Iwan loses the mansion and the herb garden to Kasadol. He is reduced to a lowly worker. Kaya marries Kasadol and becomes lady of the house. Iwan becomes lazy and starts to frequent the bars. After drinking, he starts abusing Linda. Linda gets fed up with Iwan so she leaves him with their son and becomes a nun. Kaya, in the meanwhile, has been poisoning her husband via his food. He is withering to the point where he is bedridden.,
==30 Years Later== | |||
The party cross the [[Litorud|Litorud Bridge]] and head into Verdham. They notices that many things have changed since their last visit. Thirty years has passed.
They walk into the mansion and hear the maids are talking about throwing out the food that Kaya has made. Cherri, one of the maids, decides to give the food to her dog since it would be a waste to throw out food. As she feeds it to her dog, Kopan, it becomes sick. This is when the villagers realize that the dog was poison. It is given an antidote and it starts to recover. Cherri wonders how the dog became poison when she realizes that the only way that the dog could have been poison is if there was poison in Kaya's food. Cherri realizes that Kaya has been poisoning the food for her husband and sets out to confront Kaya.
Cherri confronts Kaya about the poison. Kaya pales when poison is mentioned but she becomes defensive and tells the maid to drop the subject or else she would be fired. Cherri doesn't stop, though. She decides to reveal Kaya's plan but she needs proof. She convinces the party to investigate Kaya to see if there is any proof to validate her claims.
The party sees Kaya leaving the mansion to see Iwan. On the way, she drops a purple vial. In it is an addictive poison that causes the body to become weak, wither, and then kill the victim. The party give it to Cherri who sends it to the herb specialist who confirms her suspicions. With the proof in hand, she goes to confront Kaya again. However, Kaya is preparing a meal for her husband, which is laced with poison.
She brings her suspicions to Kasadol's attention. He refuses to believe it until she shows him the vial which Kaya carried around with her. Kasadol recognizes it as the "medicine" Kaya brought with him. Kaya denies that it is poison but Kasadol tells her to drink the contents to prove that it isn't. It is at this moment that Iwan arrives. He tells Kasadol that Kaya poisoned him on his orders. Kasadol throws both of them out of Verdham.
