The {{Hero 9}} comes to Zere on the errand of [[List of characters in Dragon Quest IX#Princess Simona|Princess Simona]]. The princess sends the {{Hero 9}} to find her old nurse and to learn more information about [[Brigadoom]]. The {{Hero 9}} finds the nurse and learns the [[Brigadoom]] is located to the north of Zere. 
 
When leaving the village, the [[Wight Knight]] appears and also sets off to find [[Brigadoom]].
