--It's the way the template is set up; you can adjust the spaces and change what goes where, but it won't effect how it's presented unfortunately. Whomever designed it wanted to keep the pictures and information separate, so it might be easier to select an alternative template instead. :Unfortunately I've got no clue if such a method exists; what I've been doing is using the scanned guide books and ripping the images from those to fill in the gaps and make the items/equipment pages more in-line with VIII's. I know the assorted fan pages and tumblr accounts have some of the japanese-only images, so browsing around there might be your best bet. I'm embarrassed.  Getting a start on more uploads and assigning them.  The link for the Inn didn't work and I eventually found it, but I ended up reuploading versions of them.  I think I could use both sets though.  I could use yours for the top of the articles and the background versions for gallery.

Infact I'm sending you a list of pics I edited and uploaded, with imput if you think they are suitable as uploaded.  Trying to see if I can be more independent on some of this.  Especially for say articles like [[Purgatory Island]] from {{VIII}} that lack them and it's even hard to find on say Woodus or Realm of Darkness' site.  By the way, he has been making updates again so maybe he could be added to the list of affiliates?  Anyway...

Last couple of pics from {{III}}.  One is the Dragon Queen which I even used the Fade spell for a better glimpse at the sprite.  But I think it would work for the gallery as is (I was thinking of an in game pic of the outside, plus for the gallery the spot where you enter {{Cloudsgate Citadel 3}}, which could even be added to the [[Elves and Faeries]] gallery).  And the [[Great Pit of Giaga]] one is an interesting case.

Yeah the [[Cell phone]] port and possibly the {{Switch}} version lack the ability to attack your allies (or say damaging Zoma with Heal spells), but an {{NPC}} in Giaga still acknowledges you are able to do so to counter [[Confusion]].

I think it's a good idea. However, I think that bosses (or mini-bosses) merit their own page still (Abominable Showman, etc.). I believe this consolidation would go a long way in differentiating us from "that other wiki". We each have things to contribute to each other that the Other Wiki doesn't have. 

Here's an example of probably the way it should be (redirecting all palette swap monsters to the original monster they are "inspired by"):

Currently each one forces a line break, and so on pages like [[Slime]], it's not uncommon to get huge columns of them, making pages much longer than they ought to be. Considering most monsters have multiple boxes per game entry I was thinking we could figure out a way to get them aligned horizontally per game (if there is a sub-type of monster like Slimification, they'd be in their own horizontal row.) What do you think? I don't know if it's possible with CSS floats, and I was thinking of using HTML tables (a preview edit worked fine), but I don't wanna complicate anything for other users. :This is a good idea, but the sad fact is that I'm not the best when it comes to template modification. The best I've been able to do thus far when it comes to displaying differing stats between versions of one game is to use < br > to segregate the numbers and point out where the differences come from in parenthesis. DQ is '''very''' consistent with stats across remakes and ports once the initial change is made, so its always safe to assume that a monster from an SNES remake will have the same stats as in the latest smart phone version.
:I'm sorry I can't be of more direct help, I really am, but I think you're on to something with this idea and I wish you the best of luck in your experiments. Don't worry about any serious changes to the templates being a hassle for the other users either--we just copy/paste what we need then blank it to fill it out with the info we're adding, so the actual process won't change much for anyone. If you need to, pick a lonely page bare of information and use that as a sandbox--the DQM3 exclusive monsters won't ever be filled out properly for a long time, so don't worry about "wrecking" one of those pages. :I think the base rate of 1/64 for evasion and crits is much more commonly understood among fans than it was in years prior, so I don't see a problem with displaying the simpler fractions. Monsters exclusive to the remake could receive their own template, say [[Template:DQ7RemakeExclusiveEnemy]] (I admit the name sucks), that would not contain any PSX sections at all. This solution would probably be the easiest to implement. To make things cleaner it'd probably be best to rename parameters to drop their prefixes (e.g. "psx-hp" would just become "hp".) ::Also, I hate to hijack this section so abruptly but I wanted to get your opinion on an idea I've been floating for a bit. As of right now there isn't really any set format for articles about items/equipment. Generally they just have sections with text descriptions and the available information varies vastly (for example some list locations, enemy drops, prices, etc., others don't). Others use templates for different classes of items (generally just [[Template:Equipment]].) I think it would be a good idea to, just like we're doing with the enemies, standardize all of the statistics into one format and make templates for items/equipment for each game so that readers can see all of that important information in one glance, as well as helping editors know exactly what information each game offers/is still needed. I imagined the template offering sections for item/equipment's name, buy/sell price, effect, locations found, enemies dropping it, description, sprite (in the newer entries), and who it is equipable by (if it applies). I might be forgetting something, but regardless, I think you get an good idea. On top of that, any unique properties or general descriptions for any particular game could still be added outside of the template in the proper section as we do for some enemies. I hope this all made sense. Let me know your thoughts on it, and I'd be more than happy to recycle a template to whip up a demo for us to test. Now something you may or may not notice when I do minor edits is basically trying maintain consistency and lessen redirects as often as possible (i.e. 3DS to [[Nintendo 3DS]]), but as far as titles for ''Dragon Quest'' games past the first ones go the template to say {{ }}, the item/equipment descriptions, monster bestiary profile and '''etc''' go, they all were made before the articles for each game past the first were officially title.

:Changing the {{}} templates to include the subtitles wouldn't be too hard, it's just a matter of opening a page that uses them, selecting to edit the template and then adding the text. The problem is that not every page link uses those templates, with some being the full game title typed out instead of the short hand { DQ3 }. It would be a big undertaking to go through every page and get the subtitles added in, and since the game pages themselves highlight to subtitles I don't think it would be a good use of time. Lessening redirects as been a big help with organizing the piping between the pages, and I'm very grateful to have someone who can pitch in for tasks like that. This is a fan operation and as such I don't have any authority or tendency to tell people what to do with their time, but I do think that combing through every page to add those subtitles would be a big task with little pay off. :::It can take a while for the changes to stick now and again, but if it's ever giving you trouble you can use the Purge option to force the new edit to take effect faster. When you make your edit, go to the history page and highlight the webpage on your search bar and hit right until you see "&action=history". replace the word history with purge and then hit enter, you'll be taken to a new page where you can purge the history and force the new edit to take precedent. Looking at the knick-knackatory page, the new redirects take me to the section but not the specific item, but that's fine since any reader can take it up from there.

:The boomerang icon gave me some trouble, and when I uploaded one for the modified link it failed to appear unless you clicked on it directly. It'll just have to be soemthing the wiki lives with, but that shouldn't be a problem since readers can make the logistical leap from the disambiguation page immediately. As for those location attribute icon templates, I've always found those to be as distasteful as the icons for door types and about as useful--I can just as easily slip the information into the descriptive paragraphs and have it flow much more naturally thank a bunch of clunky boxes shoved in at the very end of an article. I can't seem to get that particular edit to stick either, so I'll just be working my way through the pages and removing them as I update the monster names, install the weapon templates, and so forth. I think going with the full screen capture would work better, because then I can extract the dialogue box along with the character art for a more focused picture--that is, taking the second image you've uploaded and adding a transparent background to everything around the dialogue box and the character art extending beyond the screen boarder. That may take some time on my part, but I know I can clear out all the unneeded info like the boss detail in the upper background and then upload the modification as a new version of the file. Please be extra careful to make sure none of your phone's personal data is accidentally captured in these screen shots though, even small details can slip in easily. :No you've got the right idea in that all attack spells are lumped under "fire" in the game's programming, its just that the way resistance works in the first four games is based on the chance of a monster dodging a spell altogether instead of taking less damage; woosh will always deal 17~33 damage if it hits. I know its a dumb idea and in all honesty squenix should have tweaked the formula to follow later games, but for whatever reason it was decided to stick with the original system. I know my scanner did a shit job at rendering the color black when I scanned my DQXI artbook, which is very frustrating, but it seems to work fine here. The cell phone pictures of IX equipment you currently have are from the Bradygames guidebook, actually, that I own too and used to scan as well with eh results, and are way smaller—I use the second Japanese guidebook, the one with the night sky on the cover, I believe some of yours come from there as well ([https://magazine.jp.square-enix.com/gamebooks/dq/index.html here's] a very handy list of all the DQ books in Japan). I don't plan on redoing the artwork scans of items that looked identical in VIII (I've actually been using your smoothened scans all this time, those do look better than what I can do) but some have slight differences, notably markings, between those two games: I'll be covering them. I'm scanning two pages at a time, but actually, cutting out the artwork into a transparent png is the most time-consuming thing because of the unfortunate shadow effect they used that's messing with my software, so I'm uploading one at a time (and often, the page has yet to be created, so I'm making its basic structure at the same time). And, weirdly enough, the alchemiracle equipment doesn't appear to have its own artwork? It's in neither guides at least. It may appear somewhere in XI-related stuff, but XI changed all the colors apart from the first evolution stage so there's that.
