Adventure[edit]
Dragon Quest Island brings the world of Dragon Quest to life in a n out-door RPG adventure where visitors become the Hero to save the kingdom of Onokogard from the forces of the Archfiend Zoma. Guests take up the quest after being given an adventurer's book to guide them through the land and an adventurer's emblem that is used to interact with the attraction's digital cast of characters, displayed via monitors throughout the kingdom. Guests then select their preferred language from Japanese, English, and Traditional Chinese, and form a party of up to four people. Guests then create a character by selecting their sex, height, entering their name, and assuming one of five vocations: Warrior, Martial Artist, Thief, mage, or Gadabout.
Guests then explore a medieval village to gather information, helping villagers along the way while amassing equipment and supplies. Upon leaving the village guests will enter a forest filled with life-size replicas of popular monsters. Combat is conducted by interacting with the monitor near these replicas, triggering a auto-battle sequence where guests strike poses to power up on their avatars. The forest is explored until the players have collected enough mini medals to exchange for a Mark of a Hero, which grants access to a shrine where a green dragon guards the Sphere of Light. Returning to the village and resupplying with superior equipment, guests make their way to Zoma's Citadel for the final confrontation. Concluding the adventure will award guests with photos of their characters as well as photos of themselves posing with the Sword of Kings and Hero's Shield before a life-size Zoma.
