Effect Grants gold while walking on the field.

The Golden slippers are an accessory that appears exclusively in the Nintendo 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII. They are a wondrous pair of gold shoes that slowly increase the amount of gold carried by the wearer while walking.

The golden slippers have a defence bonus of +1 and can be equipped by all characters. They will grant one gold coin for every four steps taken on fields where enemy monsters appear. The shoes can be sold for 827 gold, but it is not recommended to do so as there is only one pair in the game.

The slippers were available via a distribution code to any Japanese players who purchased V-Jump's strategy guide for the game, which was released on the same day as the game, eventually becoming available as a special delivery item from July 6th, 2016 to July 19th, 2016. They were also available to international players for a short time in 2017, but after 2018, all DLC items for the 3DS version became unavailable.
