The muscle belt is a piece of clothing introduced in Dragon Quest IX. It is a leather harness of the same kind worn by musclebound thugs throughout the series. When worn together with the thug's mug, toughie trousers, and thug boots, the wearer can look like a thug.

- The muscle belt is one of the few pieces of equipment that cannot be equipped by female characters, even if they have the Wear-with-All Award equipped. This is likely because the muscle belt exposes the wearer's chest.
