Saber is a character in Dragon Quest V.

Section heading
He is a MFamilies the Hero 5 will always recruit, first as a cub then as a full grown adult. He is a Great sabrecub in the first generation and then becomes a Great sabrecat, a large sabertooth leopard monster in the last couple of generations.

Write the first section of your article here.
Bio
Saber is one of the names that Bianca Whitaker will suggest when you first recruit Saber. Players first see Saber in the child part of the game where several children are bullying a small cat in Roundbeck. They will only stop it if the Hero 5 and Bianca fight the ghosts in the castle north of the village. After accomplishing this, the kids complete their end of the deal and leave the cat alone.

Section heading
As gratitude, Saber emotionally bonds to The Hero 5 to become a Party 5 member for the rest of the child section of the game. Bianca gives him an equippable Ribbon before she leaves the Party 5. The Hero 5 and Saber become separated at the end of the first part of the game.

Write the second section of your article here.
They would meet again years later as adults, when The Hero 5 is called on to save a village from a monster. The Hero 5 learns that the "monster" has its lair in a dark cave. Saber, now an adult, will not quite remember The Hero 5 and is considered impossible to defeat with a large amount of HP, though he does not attack, due to The Hero 5's scent being familiar to him. The only way to end the battle is to use Bianca's Ribbon on him. Thus, he will recognize The Hero 5 and rejoin him for the rest of the game. If The Hero 5 does defeat Saber in battle, he will be sent back outside the room and the battle will be repeatable.

Stats
As a permanent member of the Party 5, Saber is a very powerful ally to use. He can not use magic, but has incredible Attack and Defense as well as some very powerful techniques. Saber is also one of the fastest characters in the game and often can strike before anyone else.

As the Nintendo DS port of game allows four members, Saber becomes a matter of choice on usage depending on the player's styles.  The Hero 5 and his son are the strongest characters in the game and the daughter can learn the best spells in the game so many players are suggested to use them. Players who like focusing on attacking opt to use Saber or Bianca/Debora Briscoletti as their fourth character while players who prefer to use magic will use Nera Briscoletti. Note that Saber's Level will cap at 20 while as a Great sabrecub in Generation 1.

Trivia
*Saber is called Purrcy in DQH, Tact and DQYS and is featured when Bianca uses her Ribbon during her High Tension super move.
*Bianca suggests ten names for Saber: Saber, Leo, Spot, Mohicat, Tom, Purrcy, Mogy, Punk, Pyjamas and Baumren. If the player rejects all of them, she'll cycle through the list again.
**In the the PlayStation 2 version, there are eight possible names: Rusty, Borongo, Andre, Fluffy, Lynx, Growly, Peach, Zorro
*All the names Bianca picks out for the sabrecat (including Purrcy) are derived from a children's book at her home in Roundbeck.
