Well now this wiki has a reference section.[edit]

Feel free to add any of the references from the French version if you want. Antiyonder (talk) 03:24, 11 January 2021 (EST)

Thanks for the consideration, but I usually don't edit here apart from interwiki links, because I'm already pretty busy with the French version. I can share with you the references I find for you to add, though. --Tigali (talk) 03:31, 11 January 2021 (EST)
Sounds good. I'll make sure to credit you on my user page and talk page for the article, and anyone else who might share info. Antiyonder (talk) 03:36, 11 January 2021 (EST)
You don't have to, but I appreciate it. A lot of references I have found perusing the DQ subreddit, people pointing things out, like this here thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonquest/comments/f6yie9/i_was_just_watching_some_anime_and_then_wtf_does/ . As for the ones in the French page currently, there's this Katrielle Layton puzzle looking like DQII, StreetPass Quest on the 3DS being a quite obvious parody, Me when I reincarnated as a slime when a slime says "I'm not a bad slime", The disastrous life of Saiki K. when a character looks like III's hero, and Will Riker in Star Trek Picard episode 7 "Nepenthe" cooking bunicorn. And loads more I haven't added yet.
I'll keep that in mind, just that I like to have permission from those who first upload the info if I don't come across it myself (my user page for example having acknowledgements of some material I implemented in past edits). One I would like your input on is that yes I am an MLP fan:-). One episode of FiM Season Two centering around the character Spike is titled "Dragon Quest" and it's later established that the one who rules over dragons is given the title/status Dragonlord. Sound like someone on the staff being DQ fans or too generic/vague to be counted as such? Antiyonder (talk) 18:58, 11 January 2021 (EST)
I'm not familiar with MLP (yet. I have a huge backlog of animated series to watch), but I think I'd add it. Not sure. Determining stuff like that is tough.--Tigali (talk) 07:14, 12 January 2021 (EST)
Well if you have Hulu or HBO Max, there is Adventure Time. Doing two marathons in a row was a pretty fun time to be had. And Max incidentally has a sequel miniseries to the show still going on. Antiyonder (talk) 08:40, 12 January 2021 (EST)
I heard good things about this series and I def wanna watch... Still, call me chauvinistic, but I wanted to prioritize French animated shows for the time being. Code Lyoko, Wakfu, Valérian et Laureline, etc. ^^--Tigali (talk) 09:06, 12 January 2021 (EST)

A big misunderstanding[edit]

Vandalism? If I wanted to commit vandalism (and I never wanted to), I would not send you a link to the "vandals team" page on day-one and wait a month without acting. This is a big misunderstanding.

Also, a bot would need administrator privileges, something that I obviously do not have.

Let me start from the beginning. After Follower of Light reverted my edits, I looked for the Staff Lounge of Dragon-quest.org . On the Community portal page I found the "community interaction" section with the link to the forum. I thought it unusual that you had a forum on a different website, but after all Discord is a different website, too. My message was addressed to the administrators and editors of Dragon-quest.org , therefore I invited Follower of Light, and then I thought the people who replied there were members of the Dragon-quest.org community. (The last guy was very toxic, indeed, therefore I replied politely to avoid any escalation and repeated the purpose of the discussion. No further activity.)

Just to be clear:

  • My misunderstanding was that I thought that the forum on Woodus.com was exclusive for administrators and editors of Dragon-quest.org
  • Your misunderstanding was (understandably) to think that I was plotting behind your back.

I assure you that I am in good faith. If you pass near Nantes (Pays de la Loire), I will be happy to offer you a dinner. --Abacos (talk) 15:14, 3 September 2023 (EDT)

TL;DR (I guess this is the way to use this abbreviation) If I wanted to commit vandalism (and I never wanted to), I would not send you a link to the "vandals team" page on day-one and wait a month without acting. This is a big misunderstanding.--Abacos (talk) 15:14, 3 September 2023 (EDT)
Seriously just stop, dude. You wrote "shall we launch a bot" or something to that extent on Woodus, because you just thought something HAD to be done about our pesky use of the word etymology. You've made a fool of yourself to a lot of people, and you asking me out to dinner (?) is yet another example of your difficulty in reading social cues. Seriously, I feel sorry telling you off, but after trying to be professional and help because linguistics is an interest of mine, I'm just at a loss here. As my friend put it, the heatwave makes us do crazy things. Have a nice rest of your journey, but please don't insist, you'd be screaming into the void at that point. --Tigali (talk) 19:33, 3 September 2023 (EDT)
Ah, just another addition. Maybe I've been needlessly combative about all that. I'm not the best social person, also neurodivergent, and going through other stuff when I started responding. Parting amicably is not a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. We won't come to an agreement, but I'm happy to not keep hard feelings.--Tigali (talk) 19:45, 3 September 2023 (EDT)

Before you accused me of planning vandalism, I was starting to think that you were right and I was wrong about etymology. I wanted to ask you a few more questions to better understand, but I am afraid it is too late.

About the dinner: if we were in the States or in a Germanic country, I would have invited you for a beer. Since I understand you are French, I thought you were une bonne fourchette like me.

>>> You wrote "shall we launch a bot" or something to that extent on Woodus, because you just thought something HAD to be done about our pesky use of the word etymology.

No. Because the thread was going off topic. I wrote "shall we" just because I mistranslated the French pronoun "on".

You are neurodivergent? Truth is, I am borderline Asperger (e.g. Sheldon Cooper, e.g. as you wrote, "difficulty in reading social cues"). If you are curious, I will tell you how I was stonewalled. Maybe you can explain me what went wrong there.--Abacos (talk) 20:27, 3 September 2023 (EDT)

No, I'm good, really, that ship has sailed. Good night. --Tigali (talk) 20:48, 3 September 2023 (EDT)
