The Dragonthorn is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VIII. It is a wyrm composed of weeds. They were originally the product of Dhoulmagus' curse set upon the kingdom of Trodain. Despite being composed of plant matter, the species does not belong to the Nature family.

Characteristics

Dragonthorns are thorny dragons brought to life from the cursed thorny vines that have overgrown Castle Trodain. It has a yellowish-orange head covered in long pink barbs. They are dangerous combatants, being capable of entangling opponents with their vines and then unleashing fiery breath on them just like ordinary dragons. The dragonthorns will fall quickly to dragon-slaying measures like Dragon Slash.
