Malicite is mainly used to create pieces of cursed equipment in the [[Krak Pot]]. It has a 1% chance of being found in [[List_of_treasure_map_treasure_chest_ranks_in_Dragon_Quest_IX#Rank_4/F|Rank 4]] (F) blue treasure chests or can be dropped rarely by [[Mummy|Mummies]], [[Blood mummy|Blood mummies]], and [[Grrrgoyle]]s. Malicite is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a jewel filled with evil energy that is used in Alchemy to place curses on pieces of equipment, fulfilling the same role as the Devil's tail.
