The '''Merry man''' is henchman employed by the infamous bumbling bandit [[Robbin' 'Ood]]. These {{MFamilies}}s are golden recolours of the more common [[Restless armour]] in all but one appearance, being the fifth game.

The merry man is the same {{MFamilies}} as the [[Robbin' 'oodlum]] and [[Robbin' huddle (Dragon Quest III)]], with the three being named カンダタこぶん (''Kandata kobun'') in Japanese. The robbin' 'oodlum name has been used three times where as Robbin huddle name is only used in {{III}} to signify that the goons are slightly stronger than the robbin' 'oodlums. All other appearances of the カンダタこぶん use Merry man to better match their boss' Robin Hood pun.
