Due to its coloration, head shape, and horn style, some fans believe them to be the nymph stage or per-adolescent form of [[Great dragon]]s. However, its official descriptions from several games, specifically from the {{Monsters S}} sub-series, state that the Small fry itself, despite its size, is actually fully grown. But its description from {{The Dark Prince}} states that there is no official confirmation that it is a hatchling or a fully grown dragon.
