Firebird Throw is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest franchise.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
Eight can use Firebird Throw as a boomerang technique after investing 32 skill points into the associated skill. It hits all enemies for 36~45 Fire damage.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]
This ability is learned with 58 skill points invested into Boomerang skill. The technique hits up to 7 random enemies for 0.30% Fire-element damage per strike. Costs 4 MP to use and its innate Fire trait can be stacked with the Flametang boomerang and Banefire boomerang.

Dragon Quest Heroes & Dragon Quest Heroes II[edit]
Isla can learn Firebird Throw for three skill points and it costs 8 MP for her to use. It summons a Blazing phoenix to damage enemies directly in front of her. In the sequel the skill is learned by Maribel Mayde and now costs 12 MP.
